This Takeout Style Fried Rice recipe is spot-on! The flavors are just like your favorite Chinese restaurant, probably even better! You can precook your rice, or re-purpose leftovers from another meal. The recipe comes together with egg, peas, and carrots for lots of color! At our house, we like to add chicken, shrimp, or Andouille-style sausage when we are making this fried rice into a meal. It also goes great with a homemade stir-fry!

I make my Takeout Style Fried Rice in my large cast iron skillet, but you can also use a non-stick skillet or wok. The flavor is always amazing thanks to the butter, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Cooking restaurant-quality Chinese food at home is an amazing experience, once you start, you can’t stop!

To begin, start by heating 1 Tablespoon of Sesame Oil in a cast-iron, or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add your diced onion and minced garlic, and saute for 2 minutes.

Add frozen peas and carrots to the pan and continue sauteing until they begin to soften.

Push vegetables to one side of the pan, crack 2 eggs into opposite side of pan. Scramble eggs until they just start to set. Stir eggs into vegetables.

Next, add 1 Tablespoon of butter to the pan.

Add cooked jasmine rice to the pan, and pour 1/4 cup soy sauce over rice.

Turn heat off, and stir rice and vegetables until well coated with soy sauce and butter.

Garnish your fried rice with sliced green onions when serving.

That’s It! Your Takeout Style Fried Rice is ready to eat. You can add cooked chicken, shrimp, or sausage, to the rice to make it into a complete meal. I found a spare pair of chopsticks in our condiments drawer, and that made my day when eating this rice for lunch!
